Bishopsteignton Village Show

For lovers of a proper, traditional Village Show, Bishopsteignton Community Centre is the place to be this weekend.

With over 75 classes and hundreds of exhibits this lovely show features flowers, fruit, vegetables, handicrafts, cookery, photography, sugarcraft and some wonderful floral art, this year featuring weddings as its main theme.

Doors open to the Show at 2pm on Saturday 3rd September when you’ll able to browse the exhibits, have a cream tea and perhaps buy some local cards, pictures and goodies.

On Sunday 4th September the Show is open all day from 11am to 4pm and delicious Ploughman’s Lunches are available to buy. Presentation of awards and the Grand Raffle draw will take place at 3.30pm.

This is the 16th annual Bishopsteignton Village Show and each year it goes from strength to strength. Roy Halsey, Chairman of the Show says “When we first had a Show in 1996 I never thought it would carry on all these years. It’s a great community event and we manage to attract all ages to compete and come along and join in the fun.”

Bishopsteignton Community Centre, which was previously the Village School, is in the heart of the village and Mr Halsey added “We’re very lucky to have this great building and facilities. It’s used by lots of local groups and we hire it out for weddings and parties. With all the recent refurbishment and decorating, it’s ideal for the Village Show and we’re thrilled with how many villagers and those from outside the village come along and enjoy it.”

The Village Show has its own website www.bishopsvillageshow.co.uk which has all the up to date news, photos of previous years Shows and a great archive of results.

Entry is just 50p for adults, and free for children.
