Santa’s elves were hoping to be back at Babbacombe Cliff Railway with Santa’s Post Box this year for the first two weekends in December, as usual. Unfortunately however, they will be unable to run their special Santa’s Post Box event this year.
John Ayres, Chairman of the Cliff Railway Community Interest Company says, “There is some essential maintenance work that has to take place and this is the only time that we are able to do it. So, unfortunately, we have had to take the decision to cancel our Santa’s Post Box event for this year.”
John added “It is a shame not to have this event which always proves incredibly popular and brings visitors to the railway at a time when they probably wouldn’t visit us otherwise. However, the engineering works do have to take priority on this occasion. We have told Santa who has written to all the children who visited the elves last year so that they know all about it. We’ve also given them each a free ticket to come back and have a ride on the railway when we’re open again in February 2013.”
John is keen for people to spread the word about the cancelled event and asks that if people know of any families that were hoping to ride the railway and visit the elves this year, they let them know that the event won’t be happening.
