The fabulous setting of Babbacombe Downs will once again be home to a huge marquee for the second weekend of the 2012 Babbacombe Festival with some incredible evening events planned. Thursday 21 June is the Real Ale Festival with Barn Dance and Ceilidh. There’s a line-up of 20 thirst-quenching ales and ciders on offer in the marquee including Teignworthy’s Gun Dog, Beachcomber and Reel Ale along with Gold, Topsail and Devon Dumpling from Bays Brewery. There’s Otter Ale and Otter Head, Ghostship from Adnams, St Austell’s Tribute, Doom Bar from Sharps, various beers from Skinners including Betty Stoggs, along with Full Bore and Half Bore from Hunters and Dorset Gold from Palmers. A full bar is also available.
Martyn Strange, promoter of the event, said “We’re really looking forward to getting the marquee events off to a great start. The selection of ales we’re getting in for the weekend offer a great variety of tastes to try. As for the music, this year we’re delighted to have local band, Piping Hot, to entertain the crowds. There will be some foot-stomping jigs and reels, and a caller for anyone who fancies joining in. They’re an excellent band who come highly recommended and I’m sure they’re going to prove popular with the crowds.” He added “The nice thing about an evening like this is that it’s a friendly, relaxed affair. If people want to get up and dance that’s great, but there’s plenty of room to sit, enjoy a beer or two in a great location and catch up with friends.”
Tickets for this event are just £6 per person and are available to buy securely on line at www.babbacombefestival.com or telephone 07977 535563. They can also be bought in person from the bar at the Babbacombe Inn on Babbacombe Downs.
