Hanbury’s Famous Fish and Chips of Babbacombe has announced a special charity day in aid of Rowcroft Hospice as part of the charity’s Dine at Mine campaign.
On Wednesday 16 October, in both the takeaway and restaurant, Hanbury’s is not only taking 35% off the price of medium cod and chips, it’s then giving 25% of the proceeds (net of VAT) to Rowcroft Hospice. David Hanbury said “We like to support Rowcroft with some kind of charity event each year. Rowcroft provides such a vital service locally and is run by a fantastic group of people. I am only too delighted to be able to join in with their Dine at Mine campaign and hope that we have a bumper day of serving fish and chips. By cutting the price for the day, it also acts as a thank you to all our regular customers and hopefully brings some new people along to give Hanbury’s a try.”
David added “This year we’re adding a bit of extra fun to the occasion with a silly hat competition. We’re hoping that people will enter into the spirit and come along for their fish and chips wearing a silly hat. We’ll be taking photos all day and, at the end of the event, will pick our favourite 25 silliest hats. Each winner will then receive a £25 voucher to spend in Hanbury’s restaurant.”
As well as being famous for its great fish and chips, Hanbury’s is also well known locally for doing all sorts of fundraising which David says the staff really enjoy being a part of. He says “I have a great team here at Hanbury’s and they’re all very keen on the idea and ready to get dressed up and have a bit of fun whilst fundraising.”
The event will run in the takeaway and restaurant from 11.30am to 2pm and again from 5pm to 9pm. For more information visit www.hanburys.net or look on their Facebook or Twitter pages.
